Zos Kia (also credited as Zoskia) is a British project initially formed by John Gosling along with John Balance in 1982. The name derives from the Zos Kia Cultus, a magical system devised by artist Austin Osman Spare. Several 1982-83 performances featured Peter Christopherson on sound, and recordings from this period were released as Transparent (1984) on Nekrophile Records — material that straddles the origins of both Zos Kia and Coil.
After the project’s initial phase, Gosling went on to record with Psychic TV and work solo as Mekon. The project is connected to the broader Coil and Psychic TV circle.
