Zero Kama is the ritual project of the Austrian artist Zoe DeWitt, whose work runs across visual art, performance, music and philosophy. DeWitt founded the label Nekrophile Rekords, which released eight cassettes between 1983 and 1986 and became a reference point for the occult end of the industrial underground.
The 1984 album The Secret Eye of L.A.Y.L.A.H. was recorded between 5 and 28 May in DeWitt’s own apartment, named on the sleeve as The Secret Temple of L.A.Y.L.A.H., using instruments built by hand from human bones and skulls and nothing else. The record is dedicated to the symbol of Laylah, night and death, and to its cabalistic counterpart Oz. It counts as one of the founding works of ritual industrial.
