About

SPK formed in Sydney in 1978 around Graeme Revell and Neil Hill. The group travelled to the United Kingdom in 1980 and recorded its debut there, Information Overload Unit, released by Side Effects in 1981. The Australian music historian Ian McFarlane placed them at the front of the local post-punk and experimental movement of the late seventies.

The work moved over the years from discordant industrial metal noise towards a restrained and much stranger kind of dance-rock. Sinan Leong joined on lead vocals in 1983. The group ended in 1988, after which Revell moved to the United States and has written film scores since. VOD Fest 2025 billed the set as Graeme Revell (SPK).
