Rapoon is the solo project of Robin Storey, born 1955 in Cumbria, England. Storey was a founding member of the pioneering industrial collective :zoviet*france: in 1980, contributing to 17 albums over 12 years during what is widely regarded as the group’s creative peak. He launched Rapoon in 1992 to explore ethnic music traditions and ambient textures outside his former band’s framework.
Early albums Dream Circle (1992) and Fallen Gods (1994) featured hypnotic loops of processed world music rhythms, while later works explored dub, jungle, and isolationist ambiance. Storey is also a noted visual artist.
