Norma Loy is a French cold wave group formed in 1981 in Dijon by Usher and Chelsea. Influenced by Joy Division, Suicide, Cabaret Voltaire, and the No Wave movement, they developed a sound built on restrained guitar, domineering electronics, brass experimentation, and heavily reverberated vocals that became a model for the cold wave genre.
Their first EP appeared in 1983, followed by 6 albums (82/84 – T.Vision – Sacrifice – Rebirth – Attitudes – Open your mind). The band went on hiatus in 1993 but reformed in 2006, later releasing Un/Real (2009) ; Baphomet (2016) and Ouroboros (2023).
