Final Program was formed in Stirling in 1978 by Richie Program and Anne Droid, among the first minimal synth acts in Scotland. The original run lasted until 1981, with Kennie J Young and Al Robertson joining along the way. Their 7″ EP “Protect and Survive” appeared in 1981 and John Peel played them.
Their material found a second life through Frank Bull’s own label: in 2014 Vinyl on Demand issued their 1981/82 demos as part of the eight-record box Official Guide to Scottish Minimal/Synth 1979–1983, and in 2016 they turned up on Cherry Red’s Close to the Noise Floor next to The Human League and OMD. The band was active again between 2010 and 2016.
